Observations:
1. The black corner:
This is caused by the weight of the group of wires that pass from that area. To eliminate this, a solution might be to pierce the body and have the wires pass from under the sensor.

TASKS:
ReplyDeleteIt looks to me like there are a few things to sort out before we can collect some real data:
- sort out the accelerometer signal, which currently is confusing to me, and probably too noisy. May involve some filtering but first I want to understand the source of noise.
- get rid of that black spot, probably by making a small modification to the wiring. How confident are you on attempting this yourself?
- try putting the fur back on and see how much things degrade. We may need to collect without it, or with a lighter layer of fabric covering its back, like a very thin nice-feeling fleece for now. (if you have a sweater or something like this, consider bringing it in to see how much it interferes. I'll try to bring in an old sweater of mine that might qualify).

I think we don't have to worry too much about that black spot. It's just one pixel, right? And it seems like it is at a location where people are less likely to touch while performing gestures. So if it is not easy to fix, I think we can forget about it and ignore that pixel's data in the analysis.
